1. Our privacy promise

Curioso is made for children and families, so we keep data collection to a minimum by design:

• No accounts, no logins, no sign-up — anywhere.
• No tracking or advertising cookies. Our analytics is cookieless.
• No profiling, no ad networks, and we never sell or rent your data.
• The companion game runs in your browser and doesn't send us your activity.

2. Who is responsible (Controller)

The controller for this website is FRIENDROID, LDA, Estr. de São Tiago, 376, 2415-543 Marrazes, Leiria, Portugal ("Curioso", "we", "us"). Contact: info@playcurioso.com.

3. What we process, and why

a) Visiting the website (playcurioso.com)

• No forms or accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no personal details are requested.
• Server logs. Like all websites, our hosting provider records standard technical data when a page is requested (IP address, browser/device type, pages viewed, date/time) to run and secure the site. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in security and reliability (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Retention: kept only for a short period for security and troubleshooting, then routinely deleted or anonymised.
• Analytics (Umami). We use Umami, a privacy-first, cookieless analytics tool, to count page views and see general, aggregate information (approximate country, referring site, device type). It does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not store information that identifies you. Legal basis: legitimate interest in understanding overall traffic. Provider: Umami Software, Inc. (Umami Cloud).

b) The companion game / app (e.g. the Black Hole mini-game at /play/black-hole)

• It runs entirely in your browser. There is no account, login or registration.
• It does not collect personal data or send your activity to us. Any progress or settings are stored only on your device (in your browser's local storage) and are never transmitted to us. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser data.

c) What we do not do

No advertising or marketing cookies, no third-party ad networks, no cross-site profiling, no sale of data, and no marketing emails.

4. Cookies & similar technologies

This website sets no cookies for tracking or advertising, and our analytics is cookieless. Because we don't store non-essential information on your device, no cookie-consent banner is required. The companion game may use your browser's local storage only to remember your own progress on your own device.

5. Children's privacy

Curioso is designed for children (typically ages 5–12) and their families. We deliberately require no accounts and collect no personal data from anyone, including children, and we do not knowingly collect children's personal data. This reflects the data-minimisation principle and Art. 8 GDPR. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

6. Who we share data with

• Hosting: Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany (EU) — serves the site and holds short-term server logs.
• Analytics: Umami (Umami Cloud) — aggregate, cookieless analytics.
• We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

7. International transfers

Our hosting is located in the EU (Germany). Our analytics provider, Umami, may process data outside the EEA; where that happens it is done under appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Because our analytics is cookieless and stores no information that identifies you, no personal profile is created.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. Because we generally hold no information that identifies you, some requests may not apply. To exercise a right, contact info@playcurioso.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority (CNPD — Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados, cnpd.pt) or your local supervisory authority.

9. Retention

Server logs are kept only for a short period and routinely deleted or anonymised. Analytics is retained only in aggregate, non-identifying form. On-device game data stays on your device until you clear it.

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above shows the current version.
